This was one of the last days when son, Dan, and our granddaughter, Destiny ("Desi") were here visiting with us. Instead of the usual things tourists see, we took them on a tour wa-a-ay out in the back bayous where few people get to go; deep in the Achafalaya River Basin. What a rollicking good time we had!
This bird is called a Spoon-billed Rosette.
Desi especially liked the water hyacinths, but Cappy dreads them cuz they choke the waterways. They are beautiful, tho.
Cappy brought along some of his fried chicken for lunch. Yum.
After lunch, we wandered around taking in more beautiful scenery. I had a picture of Desi 'driving' da boat, with her Grandpa, but dis blog ate it; however she turned out to be a fine navigator, using his maps. It so serene and quiet back there away from civilization, but, alas, you can just bet that as soon as we got to where they guys thought they might find a signal, Cappy was on the cell phone telling friends and family what a fun time we were having, and Dan was on his pocket computer probably doing the same. You can take da boys outa da city....but you know, somehow, their electronics are going with them.
Ok in viewing the pictures, I find something missing!:O You all have life jackets on, but the fury friends don't have one on!:|Just joking! bear don't have one either, but he scares me to death while he runs around the pontoon. Lol he don't like big pools of water, but does enjoy if I hold him in my arms while in the lake. one spoiled pup I tell ya.
ReplyDeleteforget the chicken, catch a fish and fry him!
ReplyDeleteLOL anonymous. Fishing was on our agenda, but not for that particular day, because we just wanted to show them around, and it took a long time to get there, so for that day, no time for fishing. They did go fishing one day, but I wasn't there to take pics, and it seems they musta forgot. It was the first time EVER Desi had gone fishing and she got one! She was thrilled.
ReplyDelete----------------------------------- And Taff, I understand your concern about the dawgs and think you are so sweet the way you mentioned it. They love the water so much and have been swimming every day, that when they each fell in the water out in one of those bayous, they quickly swam to get back into the boat because I was flailing my arms and screaming, terrified a gator would see them and snatch them. They haven't done it for awhile now, so I hope they learned their lesson. Hugs!
